Organisations such as Facebook, Airbnb and Uber have harnessed social capital to grow their market shares and become major disruptive forces in their industries. Define and explain how a digital citizen can build and enhance social capital.

Social Capital is a connection between multiple people. These connections can be very beneficial. For example, you want to start your own business, you start talking to your friends and family to see if it's a good idea. They may even be your first customer! Social capital is each person's social circle or network. These networks are made up of people you know and the relationship you have with them. You can see how many resources you have from your networks. The size of your network depends on you.

It is quite simple to build social capital. Just from meeting and talking to other people you can grow your social capital. You can also grow your social capital by using social media, which is very effective. You may also find like-minded individuals that can help you, or who you could help. (Anon, 2018)
